The ability to plan effectively is one of the most important skills that we can learn.  Plans set the stage for almost everything we do, from getting through our day, to spending the rest of our lives with another human being.  Unfortunately, most people get zero training on how to plan their lives.  Think back to school or work training – do you remember having a course on effective life planning?

Probably not.

As a result, most of us end up aiming for goals that someone else has set for us, striving for things that won’t make us happy, or damaging relationships because of wrong expectations.  Even with the thousands of ‘self-help’ sources, little attention is given to balanced planning.

The typical approach to planning is focused on a single topic, such as weight loss or finances, focusing only on the goal, the steps to achieve it and how to take action.  Very little thought is given to the reasons for the goal, the impact to other areas of your life, the emotional difficulty of dealing with obstacles, or the people around you who will be impacted.  What good is it to get in shape or make more money if you end up destroying another important area of your life in the pursuit of that goal?

Why balanced?  Because a balanced approach gives you the mental and physical health to carry out your mission, a team to help you overcome obstacles and celebrate victories, financial peace of mind, and the spiritual strength to start helping others.
